After a stint in nervous breakdown town, Kate finally answered the call from Lesbian Jesus who, after luring her to the lavender side, implored Kate to pick up the god damn pen again. Not one to ignore L. J. , Kate did just that, and ran a modestly successful blog called The Red Headed Step Child for a few years, until The Ivory Tower came calling.

Kate’s work, while often hilarious, is rooted in critical race studies and post-colonial theory. By using her own body and experiences, she seeks to initiate conversations about whiteness, homonormativity, class disparities, and domestic violence, among other things.

Kate recently graduated from UC Santa Cruz and is currently pursuing an MFA at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco.
