After 20 years of producing fine craft, I now explore the possibilities of 2-D work in the encaustic medium. I use a variety of materials as a base for the encaustic work, e.g. watercolor, dyed paper, wood or silk. I then might embellish the work with found or altered objects that show age or deterioration. Though somewhat ancient in look, the work has the feeling of being contemporary. There is always the possibility of being repurposed. Movement of some of the items shows energy—from pendulums to thin lace-like paper forms hanging or suspended from some interior part.
