Artist’s Statement

An avid collector of ephemera for decades, Robin’s artwork focuses on mixed media collage. She finds the unpredictability of collage a fascinating counterpoint to her structured career in financial services. The process of letting a piece reveal itself and evolve over time is an expansive, freeing (and sometimes frustrating) experience.

She enjoys the hidden aspects of collage and the layering of worlds on top of each other, only seeing hints of what lies beneath. Robin often begins a piece by writing a letter to a loved one or scribbling a poem onto the panel. There it remains, the secret heart under the layers that sets the emotional tone for a piece.
